1.2 Course description
Copyright law is the engine that drives not only such traditional creative industries as book publishing, music, and film, but also video games, computer programme, and other digital products. This course will explore copyright law and policy. The major focus will be the core issues of copyright law, including copyrightable subject matter; prerequisites for protection; authorship, ownership and transfer of rights; duration, the bundle of exclusive rights conferred; infringement, fair use and other defenses, and remedies. We will also discuss the theories and policies that justify the copyright system and motivate its reform.
