1.2 Course description
This course is designed to equip students with necessary knowledge and skills to effectively navigate the increasingly complex landscape of intellectual property (IP) disputes. The course delves into typical disputes arising from patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, while exploring various dispute resolution mechanisms such as litigation, arbitration, and negotiation. Students are expected to study landmark cases drawn from various jurisdictions including United States, Hong Kong, and China through a combination of in-depth case studies and mock preparations. Emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach, the course is designed to equip students with problem-solving skills in developing creative and effective solutions in global IP disputes.

Remarks: the normative student study load per credit unit is 25 ± 5 hours (ie. 150 ± 30 hours for a 6-credit course), which includes all learning activities and experiences within and outside of classroom, and any assessment task and examinations and associated preparations.
